Rules

Resonance
  • Each team consists of 3 participants.
  • Only one team can register from each school.
  • Each team will be assigned a code at the registration desk, such as 1A, 1F, 2A, 2F, 3A, 3F, and so on.
  • The teams 1F and 1A will debate with each other with 1F for the topic and 1A against the topic. Similarly teams, with 2F and 2A will debate each other, and so on.
  • The topic will be given exactly 15 minutes before and will be different for each team.
  • The team ‘for’ the topic will start speaking, and the speaker from that team will get 120 seconds. Then, the team ‘against’ will start speaking, and that speaker will also get 120 seconds.
  • The same speaker has to deliver the entire 120-second speech. The above mentioned time is for stating points. Questions MUST NOT be asked during that time.
  • A total of 5 minutes will be provided for the rebuttal. Questions will be asked to the teams which can come from other participants and the judges as well.
  • Judges’ decision is final.
  • Notepads to take notes will be provided by the school and only those are allowed to be brought on to the stage.
  • General Rules:
    • Muted Mics will be employed.
    • Basic debate rules will apply and violations will result in a loss of points.
    • Speaking over the other participants is strictly prohibited.
    • FACTS should be the basis for all arguments/points.
    • NO INAPPROPRIATE or INSULTING language may be used.
